At spring training, the Milwaukee Brewers lost a pair of split-squad games yesterday, 7-to-3 to Oakland and 3-to-1 to Cincinnati.
Left-hander Randy Wolf, the Brewers’ biggest off-season pick-up, tossed three shut-out innings. He gave up two hits and two walks, and struck out four. Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer. Ex-Brewer Gabe Gross hit a two-run triple for Oakland, and Michael Taylor had a three-run blast. In the Reds’ loss, Joey Votto broke an 0-for-9 slump with a homer to lead off the sixth.
Milwaukee starter Chris Narveson tossed three scoreless innings with a walk and three strikeouts. But it was a rough outing for Chris Capuano, who gave up two runs and three hits in two-and-a-third frames.
The Brewers dropped to 3-5 in Cactus League play. They’ll play the Chicago Cubs this afternoon, with Doug Davis getting making his first exhibition start for Milwaukee.
