Marquette out of gas and outsed from Big East Tournament

- The Golden Eagles stayed close to the 22nd-ranked Hoyas until they went on a 14-1 run midway through the second half. The Big East Conference Men's Basketball Tournament game then turned into a rout.

NEW YORK - Sophomore Greg Monroe dominated Marquette in an 80-57 blowout loss to Georgetown.

Monroe had 23 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists in the game.

Jimmy Butler led Marquette with 17 points. Despite his efforts, the Golden Eagles lost by more than 10 points for the first time all season. They await their NCAA Tournament fate Sunday while the Hoyas play West Virginia in the title game Saturday evening.
