MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress testified today in the lawsuit brought against the league by Vikings defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams, saying he didn't tell the media his players had tested positive for a banned substance contained in StarCaps.
"That's so anti-me," Childress said when asked if he had leaked drug test results. "No, I have not."
Childress said both players told him about the results before they were made public, a disclosure which he attributed to a culture of openness within the Vikings' locker room.
"One of the cultural things we address with the men is just a culture of honesty," Childress said.
Childress said he recalled the sadness on the face of Kevin Williams when they first discussed his positive test in August of 2008.
"He mentioned it to me and I could see at the time tremendous disappointment on his face," Childress said. "We've prided ourselves on not letting anybody see our weakness or our troubles as a team."
