Brewers blank Kansas City in Cactus League action

-- The Milwaukee Brewers shut out Kansas City 2-0 in an exhibition game yesterday in Surprise, Arizona.

SURPRISE, Ariz. - The Milwaukee Brewers shut out Kansas City 2-0 in an exhibition game yesterday.

Jody Gerut hit a run-scoring double. Carlos Gomez went 2-for-4 and stole his seventh base of the spring. Chris Narveson threw four shutout innings for the Brew Crew, giving up five hits and a walk. He also hit a batter, and he struck out four.

Gil Meche took the loss, giving up both Milwaukee runs in his four innings of work. The Brewers are now 9-and-6 in the Cactus League. They’ll play Cincinnati this afternoon. Left-hander Doug Davis will start for the Brew Crew against Reds’ lefty Aroldis Chapman.

Also yesterday, the Brewers rested left-hander Chris Capuano for at least a few days. He has inflammation in the elbow in which he had two Tommy John reconstructive surgeries.

Also, Milwaukee released veteran left-hander John Halama. And they sent right-handed reliever Omar Aguilar to Cleveland so they could keep Rule-Five draft pick Chuck Lofgren. The move allows Lofgren, a left-handed reliever, to start the year in AAA
