MADISON - The WIAA boys' state high school basketball tournament begins today in Madison.
The Division-Four semi-finals are up first. Undefeated Randolph, the A-P's top-rated team in D-Four, will play Royall at 9:05. And Clayton will then take on Green Bay Northeast Wisconsin Lutheran in the other semi.
The rest of the day will feature the Division-One quarter-finals. Unbeaten Antigo will play Appleton East at 1:35. And then defending champion Madison Memorial will face Neenah. This evening, Milwaukee Hamilton will go against Milwaukee Marquette. And day's final game has Hartland Arrowhead taking on Verona.
Semi-finals will be played tomorrow in Divisions One, Two, and Three. Championship contests in all four groups will be played on Saturday at the Kohl Center. New champions will be crowned in Divisions Two-and-Four, after Wisconsin Lutheran and Benton lost in the earlier rounds.
Meanwhile, sectionals begin tonight in the girls' tournament. Games are scheduled in the three lower divisions, with D-One teams opening tomorrow night. The girls' state tournament opens a week from today in Madison.
