Semifinal action continues today in boys' state basketball tournament

MADISON - At the boys’ state high school basketball tournament, semi-finals will be played today in three divisions.

Defending Division-One champion Madison Memorial will play Appleton East. And Milwaukee Marquette will face Hartland Arrowhead, after those four teams won their quarter-finals yesterday. Madison Memorial advanced with a 58-41 win over Neenah. Marquette recruit Vander Blue had 14 points for Memorial. Appleton East gave Antigo its only loss of the season, 54-46. Milwaukee

Hamilton committed 17 turnovers in falling to Marquette 48-43. And Ben Mills had 20 points and 10 rebounds to give Arrowhead a 64-34 win over Verona.

Today’s action will begin with the Division-Three semi-finals. Blair-Taylor will play Racine Saint Catherine’s at 9:05, followed by Eau Claire Regis against Brillion. The Division-Two semi-finals take place this afternoon. Waukesha Catholic Memorial goes against Sauk Prairie, and Maple Northwestern plays Kiel. The D-1 semis will be played tonight. Title games are set for tomorrow in all four divisions.
