MILWAUKEE -- Minnesota was a special guest at the second-half act of the Jordan Crawford show.

The Xavier sophomore, a transfer from Indiana, torched the No. 11 seeded Gophers and broke open a halftime tie by scoring 17 of his game-high 28 points in the second half of the No. 6 seeded Musketeers' 65-54 victory against Minnesota in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

The Gophers couldn't keep up on Friday afternoon at the Bradley Center. After being tied 26-26 at halftime, they shot only 9 of 34 in the second half.

Lawrence Westbrook led Minnesota with 19 points.

Besides the loss, the U also had to deal with rumors swirling throughout the day that head coach Tubby Smith would soon sign a deal to become the new head coach at Auburn. Smith said in the after game press conference that he is looking forward to returning to Minnesota.
