CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The season is over for the Marquette women. The Golden Eagles lost at Illinois 74-72 in overtime in the second round of the WNIT Tournament.
Marquette’s Angel Robinson sent the game to O-T by hitting a three-pointer with 28-point-four seconds left. But the Illini scored the first five points of the extra period, and Marquette could never catch up.
Tatiyiana McMorris got the Eagles to within two by hitting a trey with 43 seconds left. Marquette could not stop Illinois’ Jenna Smith, who had 29 points and 14 rebounds.
The Illini now move on to play Missouri State on Thursday night. Marquette ends its season at 17-16.
