Iowa State ends UW-GB's season in the second round

-- The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team ended its season with a 60-56 loss at Iowa State last night in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

AMES, Iowa - The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team ended its season with a 60-56 loss at Iowa State last night in the second round of the N-C-A-A Tournament.

The Cyclones never led until about nine minutes to go, when they completed a 10-2 run which included three Green Bay turnovers. The Phoenix committed 18 miscues on the night. And the most costly came with four-point-three seconds left, when Celeste Hoewisch was driving to the baseline and stepped on the end line.

Iowa State then sealed its victory with three free throws. Kelsey Bolte scored 15 points for the Cyclones, who improved to 25-7 while losing only once at home this season. Kayla Tetschlag scored a career-high 29 points for Green Bay, which was trying to make the Sweet-16 for the first time in its history. Instead, the Phoenix end their season at 28-5.

Iowa State moves on to play unbeaten Connecticut.
