Smith denies rumors he's heading to Oregon
Minnesota Sports- University of Minnesota men's basketball coach Tubby Smith is denying reports that he was offered the head coaching job at Oregon.
MINNEAPOLIS - University of Minnesota men's basketball coach Tubby Smith is denying reports that he was offered the head coaching job at Oregon.
There are other reports indicating the U is looking to give Smith a contract extension. Smith has won at least 20 games in his first three seasons with the Gophers after bolting from his job in Kentucky. He has four years left on his original contract with the U.
Since coming to the Gophers, Smith's name has been connected with job openings at Virginia, Auburn, Georgia Tech and Arizona. The vacancy at Oregon is reportedly getting financial backing from Nike chairman Phil Knight, who's a major booster for the Ducks athletic program. Knight attended college at Oregon.
