BOYCEVILLE - Prescott High School's baseball team won its first game of the season 8-3 over Boyceville Monday.
The Cardinals used four pitchers starting with Garrett Choate. It was Billy Brookshaw that got the win after Choate threw two scorelss innings. A two-dun double by Dylan Gutting put the Cards ahead 3-0 in the third.
PHS build up an 8-0 lead before giving up three unearned runs in the Bulldogs' last at bats.
"It was baptism by fire for many of our younger players," Prescott head coach Jeff Ryan said. "Some of the things they did were impressive and some were sloppy but overall we played well four our first game."
Gutting had two hits to lead the Cardinals. Their home opener is Thursday against Ellsworth.
