Both Ellsworth High School baseball and softball teams were beaten in non-conference contests Tuesday played through the rain.

The Panther softball team was crushed 15-0 in three innings by defending Dunn-St. Croix champions St. Croix Central in Hammond while the baseball team couldn't hold a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh and lost 5-3 to River Falls in Hager City.

River Falls plated three runs in the seventh off three walks, two wild pitches and an RBI-single. EHS loaded the bases in their last at bats but could not score a run. The Panthers stranded 11 base runners in the contest, their season and home opener.

Taylor Johnson had three hits to lead the Panthers while Darren Georgakas was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate.

Both Ellsworth teams will be in action Thursday at Prescott.
