ANAHEIM, Calf. - (The Sports Network) Justin Morneau and J.J. Hardy each homered for the second time in as many games, and Carl Pavano pitched seven strong innings, as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 4-2, in the third test of a four-game set at Angel Stadium.

Morneau blasted a two-run shot, while Hardy had a solo homer for the Twins, who have won two straight. Pavano (1-0) allowed only one run on six hits without walking a batter in his outing while fanning six.

Jon Rauch notched his second save of the season despite yielding a run in the ninth.

Hideki Matsui went 3-for-4 and scored a run for the Angels, who also started 1-2 last season. Ervin Santana (0-1) continued his struggles at home after giving up four runs, five hits and a walk in six frames. Santana, who went just 8-8 last season after a 16-7 mark in 2008, went 2-5 at home in 2009 with a 6.05 ERA.

Santana pitched the first three innings without yielding a hit, but Morneau changed that when he followed a Joe Mauer walk with a blast over the wall in right-center for a 2-0 lead and Minnesota's first hit.

Pavano pitched a perfect fourth, and Hardy began the fifth with a leadoff homer. Nick Punto followed with a triple and subsequently scored on Denard Span's sacrifice fly for a 4-0 edge.
