PC nine break tie with SV to win season opener

Plum City High School's baseball team broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the sixth to beat Spring Valley 8-4 Thursday afternoon at Legion Park.

PLUM CITY - Plum City High School's baseball team broke a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the sixth to beat Spring Valley 8-4 Thursday afternoon at Legion Park.

Spring Valley scored all four of its runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game. The Blue Devils answered in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs of their own, to secure the win.

PC's Jake Gilles' plate discipline for the rally led off the bottom of the sixth with his third walk of the game and came into score on Kris Krueger's double.

Chase Luebker started and pitched five innings of shutout ball. He struck out seven, walked two and surrendered one hit. Teammate Luke Schladweiler finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Ryan Flynn collected two hits and two RBIs.

The Devils host a Saturday doubleheader vs. Somerset beginning at 10 a.m. Spring Valley also has a home doubleheader this weekend as they take on Clear Lake at Syverson Park Friday starting at 4:45 p.m.
