CALGARY, Albt. - Brent Burns had the deciding goal in the shootout as Wade Dubielewicz was perfect in place of an injured Niklas Backstrom, as the Minnesota Wild took a 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames.
Backstrom left the contest early in the third period after getting hit with a puck near the right collarbone, and did not return. Dubielewicz made five saves before the game eventually went to the shootout.
The third shooter overall, Burns beat Miikka Kiprusoff with a sharp backhander to the left side. After Dubielewicz stopped Nigel Dawes, Antti Miettinen scored on nearly the same move as Burns to clinch the victory for the Wild.
Chuck Kobasew scored a first period power-play goal for the Wild, who snapped a four-game slide and closed their road schedule for the season. Backstrom made 27 saves before departing.
