Goeffrion wins Hobey Baker as UW gets ready for NCAA title game
Wisconsin Sports- Blake Geoffrion becomes the University of Wisconsin's first ever Hobey Baker Award winner as the Badgers gear up to take on Boston College in the NCAA Division I finals.
DETROIT - The Wisconsin Badgers take on Boston College in a rematch of the 2006 NCAA Hockey Championship Game.
Wisconsin won that one 2-1. Tonight's game will be played at Ford Field in Detroit. A crowd of 38,000 is expected. BC earned the position with a stunning upset of top-ranked Miami of Ohio Thursday. Wisconsin outmatched Rochester Institute of Technology 8-1 in the other semifinal.
Face-off is at 6 p.m. and the game will be televised live on ESPN.
The Eagles have played in the finals in 2006, '07 and '08 winning the '08 title. They also won in 2001. Wisconsin has won six national titles and is looking for its first since 2006.
UW Senior forward Blake Geoffrion has won the 2010 Hobey Baker Award as college hockey's to player. Geoffrion has won a host of other awards this season, including first-team All-American on the WHCA team. Geoffrion is joined by teammate Brendan Smith on the prestigeous squad.
