Volunteers still needed for Farm Tech Days

Only three months are left before Wisconsin Farm Technology Days (FTD) hits Pierce County.

Thursday, the executive committee and the sub-committees met at the Seyforth Building on the Pierce County Fairgrounds for a status update and to hear how things are progressing for the event, scheduled Tuesday-Thursday, July 20-22, at the Roger and Bev Peterson farm, two miles south of River Falls on Hwy. 29-35.

The biggest concern arising from the meeting is the need for volunteers, specifically from the parking, admissions and youth committees.

Executive Secretary Greg Andrews estimated 150-200 volunteers are still needed for parking.

“They are our first ambassadors and our last ambassadors,” Andrews said of the parking volunteers. “It’s an important position.” He added if people are interested, they don’t have to work all-day shifts, half-day shifts work as well. If interested, contact parking committee chairs Dale Hines and Greg Kerr.

Admissions co-chair Mary Beth Williams said they are looking for between

50-75 volunteers, while youth co-chair Emily Lyon-Hansen said their magic number is around 25.
