MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers will try to even their three-game series with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field this afternoon.
Right-hander Dave Bush goes against Cubs’ right-hander Randy Wells in a 1:20 start. Bush was in line to win his first start last Friday night, before Trevor Hoffman gave up a two-run homer in a Brewer loss to Saint Louis.
Wells is 1-and-0, after giving up six hits in six innings in the Cubs’ 2-0 Atlanta last Thursday.
Chicago was batting .197, the lowest in the National League, before they exploded for nine runs in their Wrigley Field opener on Monday. The Cubs had a season-high 13 hits in that contest. Bush is 2-and-8 lifetime against Chicago with a 5.30 ERA in 15 starts. Wells was 1-1 against Milwaukee in his rookie year of 2009, with a 3.60 ERA.
Cubs’ first baseman Derrek Lee might not play. He’s day-to-day after suffering inflammation in his right thumb on Monday.
