Elmwood nips Ellsworth by 4-3 score
In a contest between two Pierce County squads, Elmwood edged Ellsworth 4-3 Tuesday in Elmwood.
ELMWOOD - Winning pitcher Kelsey Leach tossed a five hitter in Elmwood's 4-3 non-conference win over Ellsworth Thursday.
The Panthers took a one-run lead after scoring three runs in the fifth inning but the Raiders struck back with one run in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Ellsworth's Mariah Diercks hit a two-RBI single. Despite taking the loss she still struck out seven batters. Teammate Halle Hatch went 2-for-4 and scored a run.
Elmwood had nine hits in the game and getting two apiece were Brittni Peterson, Christina McKune and McKayla Brunner.
Elmwood had nine hits in the game as they evened their record at 1-1. Ellsworth drops to 1-4.
