MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men’s basketball team added two players after yesterday’s opening day of the NCAA spring signing period.

They are forward Jae Crowder, the national junior college player-of-the-year from Howard in Texas – and guard D-J Newbill, a high school senior from Philadelphia. Both had verbally committed to the Golden Eagles several weeks ago.

Crowder is the son of former NBA player Corey Crowder, and he’s expected to replace senior Lazar Hayward. He also had offers from Baylor, Texas Tech, Nevada-Las Vegas, and Georgia. Newbill also had an offer from West Virginia among other places.

They’re among five new recruits for Marquette this fall.
