Vikings' Jackson staying put, Edwards considering

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - It appears quarterback Tarvaris Jackson is staying with the Vikings, while defensive end Ray Edwards is weighing his options.
Both players are restricted free agents, and Jackson today is expected to sign a one-year, one-point-one-seven million dollar tender with the Vikings. Edwards has not signed, but the deadline for restricted free agents negotiate with other teams expired last night.
Because there is no collective bargaining agreement in place between the NFL and the players union, Edwards could not become an unrestricted free agent. That would have allowed him to continue talking with other teams. Jackson remained an unrestricted free agent because of a lack of service time.
The Vikings yesterday waived wide receiver Vinny Perretta, who was on the practice squad last year.
