Twins edge Royals 6-5

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Orlando Hudson's first home run as a Twin broke a tie game in the seventh, and the Minnesota bullpen held on in a 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Target Field.

Hudson finished with two hits and a walk for the Twins, who have won nine of 11 after an Opening Day loss to the Angels. Jim Thome blasted a two-run homer, while Joe Mauer finished with two hits and two RBI in the victory.

Nick Blackburn lasted only five innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk. Brian Duensing (2-0) pitched two scoreless frames to earn the win, and Jon Rauch notched his sixth save.

Rick Ankiel hit two home runs and totaled three RBI for the Royals, who have lost five of seven and five straight to Minnesota, including the first two games of this three-game series.

Gil Meche made his second start of the season and yielded five runs, seven hits and four walks in six frames. John Parrish (1-1) was given the loss after allowing Hudson's homer.
