Skiles finishes second as NBA's Coach of the Year
Wisconsin Sports-- Milwaukee Bucks’ coach Scott Skiles finished second in the voting for the NBA’s coach-of-the-year.
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Bucks’ coach Scott Skiles finished second in the voting for the NBA’s coach-of-the-year. Scott Brooks of Oklahoma City won the award, after the Thunder won 27 more games than the previous year and make the playoffs for the first time since 2005.
Skiles coached the Bucks to 12 more victories than last season, for its first winning record since 2003 and its first playoff bid since ’06.
Brooks had 480 points in the voting by sports-writers and broadcasters throughout the league. Skiles had 313 points, with 26 first-place votes. Nate McMillan of Portland finished third in the balloting. Skiles is in his second year with the Bucks, and has earned the respect of his players with his strong preparedness and professional demeanor.
Skiles says the Bucks have not been focused enough during their first-round playoff series with Atlanta – and they’re really missing injured center Andrew Bogut’s shot-blocking force in the middle. The Bucks are down 2-0 in the best-of-seven series. Game-Three is Saturday night at the Bradley Center.
