Thome's runs help Twins beat Royals

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Jim Thome homered and drove in three runs, as the Minnesota Twins topped the Kansas City Royals, 8-3, to open a three- game set at Kauffman Stadium.

J.J. Hardy also homered for the Twins, who won for the third time in four games to improve to 12-5 on the season. Orlando Hudson finished 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored as the Twins clinched a winning record in April for the first time since 2007.

Carl Pavano (3-1) lasted seven innings and allowed just two runs on four hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

David DeJesus hit a crazy inside-the-park homer and finished with two RBI for the Royals, who have dropped three of four.
