STEVENS POINT - Wisconsin high school basketball coaches were turned down yesterday, in their effort to have unlimited coaching contacts with their players during the summer.
Members at the WIAA’s annual meeting in Stevens Point voted 210-to-107 against the change. That means the current contact rules continue for basketball, hockey, soccer, and volleyball.
Members also voted down an effort to re-define the summer contact period, which means coaches will have to settle for the current five-day period from the end of spring classes through the end of July.
