Prescott-Ellsworth clash for first in MBC softball

Ellsworth-Prescott's high school softball teams will meet Thursday for the top spot in the Middle Border Conference.

Ellsworth-Prescott's high school softball teams will meet Thursday for the top spot in the Middle Border Conference.

The first pitch is at 5 p.m. in Ellsworth.

Prescott is 6-1 in the league standings while Ellsworth is 6-2.

Both teams have played before this season. The game was tied after four innings before the Cardinals outscored the Panthers 8-1 in the late innings for a 9-1 win.

Both teams come into the game having notched a pair of wins earlier this week. Prescott topped Baldwin-Woodville, who are 5-2 in the MBC, 2-1 and Durand 10-0. Ellsworth edged New Richmond 8-7 and blanked Osceola 8-0. The wins put Ellsworth back at the .500 mark since the start of the season 6-6.
