MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Bucks’ point guard Brandon Jennings is disappointed that he finished third in the NBA’s rookie-of-the-year voting. But Jennings says he’d rather be in the playoffs – which the two players ahead of him are home watching on TV.
Sacramento guard Tyreke Evans got 491 votes from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Golden State guard Stephen Curry was second with 391. Jennings had 204, including 12 first-place votes.
Evans joined Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and former Buck Oscar Robertson as the only players ever to average 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists in their rookie seasons. Jennings said Evans had a great year, and he can’t complain about him getting the award. Jennings has stepped up his game in the playoffs. He leads the Bucks with an average of 21 points in their first five games against the Atlanta Hawks, with four assists and three rebounds.
The Bucks lead the best-of-seven series 3-2 and they can clinch it with a victory tonight at the Bradley Center.
