SAN DIEGO - The Milwaukee Brewers' run into the hottest team in the National League -- and it doesn't come out well. The San Diego Padres notched their fifth shutout of the young season, blanking Milwaukee 3-0 Friday night.

Clayton Richard and three relievers shut down the Brewer bats as San Diego won for the 12th time in 14 games. Padres pitchers haven't allowed a run in 24 innings. Scott Hairston's two-run home run was the big blow for the Padres. Chase Headley knocked in the first San Diego run with a third-inning sacrifice fly.

The punch-less Milwaukee offense squandered a pretty good effort by starting pitcher Dave Bush. He took the loss despite holding the Padres to six hits and three runs in seven innings on the mound
