UW Sports Notes: Contracts renewed for UW coaches

MADISON - Qualifying for the NCAA tournament last season earns women's basketball coach Lisa Stone a three-year extension. The athletic board at the University of Wisconsin-Madison renewed the contracts of five winter-sports coaches yesterday.

Men's basketball coach Bo Ryan had his rolling five-year contract extended another year, though May 2015. Financial details weren't revealed, though Ryan made $1.25 million last year. The Badgers are 217-and-82 in Ryan's nine years on the job. Also extended were men's hockey coach Mike Eaves, wrestling coach Barry Davis and men's and women's swimming and diving coach Eric Hansen.

In other UW sports notes, the men's tennis team beat Minnesota 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament in Bloomington, Indiana Friday. The Badgers face No. 4 Ohio State in the semifinals today. The women's tennis team fell to Michigan 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament in Iowa City, Iowa Friday. The UW men's golf team is in 11th after the second round of the Big Ten Meet which is being held in Independence, Minnesota and the UW's women's rowing team competes for the Big Ten title this weekend in Michigan.
