U-W Whitewater and Stevens Point won their opening games at the NCAA Division III baseball tournament, while Carthage and Ripon dropped their openers.

Wisconsin SportsU-W Whitewater and Stevens Point won their opening games at the NCAA Division III baseball tournament, while Carthage and Ripon dropped their openers.

At the Whitewater regional, the host Warhawks defeated Aurora 6-1 yesterday. Stevens Point crushed Saint Scholastica 12-1. And Carthage lost to Saint Thomas of Saint Paul, 14-6.
Today, Carthage plays Aurora – and if the Red Men lose, they’ll be the first to go home in the double-elimination tournament. Whitewater plays Saint Scholastica, and Stevens Point goes against Saint Thomas. At the Moline Illinois Regional, Ripon was shut out by Webster 6-0. Ripon has an elimination game this afternoon against Illinois Wesleyan.
