Ellsworth High School's softball team won a make-up game over Amery at home Tuesday 4-0. The win helped them obtain the No.1 seed for the upcoming regional tournament.

The seeding meeting for the regional took place last night. Also in the bracket is Baldwin-Woodville, Amery, Osceola, Durand, New Richmond and Somerset. It's all the MBC squads except for league champ Prescott.

Being the No. 1 seed has its rewards. It entitles the team to host all of its tournament games, including the championship if they make it that far, and have a bye for the first round, which takes place next Thursday.

No. 2 seeded Baldwin-Woodville will take on Somerset in Baldwin, No. 3 Amery plays host to No. 6 seed New Richmond and No. 4 seed Durand will No. 5 Osceola at its field in Arkansaw.

Ellsworth will play the winner of the Osceola-Durand game Tuesday, June 1.

Winning pitcher Halle Hatch stuck out 10 Amery batters in seven innings and allowed just two walks. Allison Freier led EHS with two hits, including a double. Becca Chollett also had an RBI double.

The win also puts Ellsworth over the .500 mark for now. The Panthers play New Richmond Friday and will be in a tournament in Bloomer Saturday.
