CHIPPEWA FALLS - Playing against one of the top high school baseball teams in western Wisconsin, Ellsworth showed they're in the same class as they rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win this non-conference game 5-4 Thursday.
The Panthers scheduled the game vs. Chippewa Falls McDonell to get a game in before Tuesday's regional semifinal game. Their non-conference contest vs. Red Wing Tuesday was halted in the fourth inning due to rain.
McDonell scored four runs, all unearned, in the bottom of the sixth inning but the Panthers answered with five in the top of the seventh.
Four of Ellsworth's six hits came in the seventh.
The Macks had runners on first and second in their last at bats. Ellsworth catcher Taylor Johnson snapped a throw to shortstop Tyler Regnier and picked off the runner at second to end the game.
Caleb Dressen went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Brady Schroeder knocked in a run.
