Baseball and softball diamonds in Pierce County will be busy this upcoming Tuesday from Spring Valley to Prescott and from Hager City to Elmwood.
WIAA regional semifinals will take place in all these location in both sports involving all nine high school teams.
Prescott and Plum City punched their tickets to the regional semis Friday. Prescott edged Baldwin-Woodville 2-1 at Firehall Field in Prescott and Plum City won at their home, Legion Park, 12-5. Winning pitcher Chase Luebker helped the Blue Devils overcome a 3-0 deficit by pitching a four hitter with 11 strikeouts and with his 4-for-4 showing at the plate, including a home run, three RBIs and three stolen bases. Ryan Flynn and Kris Krueger both had two hits and two RBIs for the Blue Devils and Tyler Churchill hit a double.
Plum City will be at Elmwood in a Division 4 regional semi. The other half of the bracket has Spring Valley hosting Pepin at Syverson Park in Spring Valley. The Lakers advanced to play the No. 1 seeded Cardinals Friday by beating Clear Lake 9-3.
In Division 2, Prescott will take on the No. 1 seed, Ellsworth, at the Brown Sports Fields in Hager City. No. 2 seed Somerset hosts St. Croix Falls, a 5-2 winner over Osceola, in the other half of the bracket.
Ellsworth is also a No. 1 seed in softball and they will host Durand on Tuesday in the semifnals. Durand beat Osceola Thursday in Arkansaw to advance. Amery is at Baldwin-Woodville in the other semifinal in the tournament bracket.
Prescott has No. 1 seed in Division 3 and will host Spring Valley-Plum City at Biggs Frey Field. SV-PC topped Whitehall 7-5 Thursday to advance.
The other semi has Osseo-Fairchild at Arcadia.
Elmwood will take on Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran in their Division 4 semifnal at Elmwood. The winner will face either Glenwood City or the No. 1 seed Chippewa Falls McDonell.
Regional finals in baseball are on Wednesday at the top seeded teams's home diamond. Regional finals for softball are on Thursday.
