Twins winning streak snapped by Mariners

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Jose Lopez drove in three runs and Jason Vargas tossed seven strong innings, as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Minnesota Twins, 7-1, in the continuation of a four-game series at Safeco Field.
Vargas (4-2) allowed one run on six hits for the Mariners, who halted a three- game skid and evened the series after falling 5-4 in Monday's opener.
Justin Morneau's solo home run accounted for the only offense for Minnesota, which saw its five-game win streak halted.
Minnesota starting pitcher Nick Blackburn lasted only 3 2/3 innings and suffered the loss. Blackburn (6-2) allowed five runs on 10 hits.
In the home first, the M's got on the board with three consecutive singles, the last of which was off the bat of Franklin Gutierrez and brought home Ichiro Suzuki.
Morneau's 12th homer of the season in the top of the third knotted the score.
Seattle took control with four runs in the home portion of the fourth frame. Mike Sweeney led off with a single before Lopez stepped to the plate and drilled his third homer of the year over the wall in left field.
Josh Wilson's one-out single preceded another base hit by Eliezer Alfonzo. With runners on first and second, Suzuki's base hit allowed Wilson to score and a double to right field by Chone Figgins saw Alfonzo cross the plate for a 5-1 Seattle advantage.
Vargas induced an inning-ending double play in the fifth, worked around a one-out single by Jason Kubel in the sixth and hurled a perfect seventh.
