ST. LOUIS - Adam Wainwright tossed his first career shutout in blanking Milwaukee 8-0 last night.
Wainwright gave up just two hits to the Brewers and retired the last 18 batters he faced. The big right hander is hot, allowing just two earned runs in his last 21 innings. Centerfielder Colby Rasmus gave Wainwright all the support he would need with his ninth home run. Albert Pujols drove in a pair as the St. Louis Cardinals won for the sixth time in eight games.
Randy Wolf set the first six Cardinal batters down on just 20 pitchers, but he eventually wound up losing for the fifth time in nine decisions.
