Three University of Wisconsin boats have reached the national championship races at the IRA National Men's Regatta in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Friday's racing over a two thousand meter course took place in hot and sunny weather on the Cooper River.
Badger head coach Chris Clark was pleased by two wins and a third place finish in the semifinals. The open four and varsity four crews both won for the Madison school. However the varsity eight will finish no higher than 13th thus puts UW out of the running for the national title.
But the UW women's lightweight team is on track to win their fourth national title in a row at the IRA National Women's Lightweight Regatta. Their varsity eight and varsity fours will be competing in the finals today. Wisconsin is ranked No. 1 in the nation going into the meet.
