Young's game-winning hit snaps Twins losing streak

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Delmon Young drove in the game-winning run in the 11th inning as the Minnesota Twins downed the Oakland Athletics, 5-4, in the opener of a three-game set.

Justin Morneau went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and three runs scored, Joe Mauer had two hits and scored twice and Young finished with two RBI for the Twins, who had just lost the final three games of a four-game series to Seattle.

Scott Baker went 7 1/3 innings in the start, but did not factor in the decision. He gave up four runs on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Matt Guerrier (1-1) got the win as he pitched two scoreless innings.

Kevin Kouzmanoff clubbed a two-run home run, while Rajai Davis added a solo shot for the Athletics, who have lost three of their last four games.

Dallas Braden went 6 1/3 innings in the start and was charged with four runs on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Andrew Bailey (0-2) was handed the loss.

In the 11th, Morneau doubled to start the frame and, after Jason Kubel struck out, came home on a single from Young for a 5-4 lead.
