Fullerton tops Minnesota 9-5, advances in NCAA baseball tourney

FULLERTON, Calf. - Cal State-Fullerton rallied from an early two-run deficit to beat the University of Minnesota 9-5 and advance to the Division One baseball Super Regionals.
The Gophers were trying to beat the host Titans for the second time in less than a week, but starting pitcher Austin Lubinsky was rocked for eight hits and six runs in four and two-thirds innings.
Gopher right fielder Michael Kvasnicka led the team in hitting by going three-for-five with two RBI's. The Gophers end their season 32-30. They won the Big Ten regular season and postseason championships, but failed to win a regional title for the 18th straight time. Their last regional title was in 1977.
Fullerton will play UCLA in a best of three format in the Super Regionals this week in Los Angeles.
