MINNEAPOLIS - The Twins extended their home record to 19-and-nine with a 7-3 pasting of the Kansas City Royals at Target Field last night.

Kevin Slowey retired the first 12 batters he faced and completed seven shutout innings for his team-leading seventh win, while Jason Kubel homered and drove in three runs. The Twins never trailed, scoring three in the first off Zach Greinke and knocking the reigning Cy Young Award winner from the game in the fifth inning. Michael Cuddyer returned from the bereavement list with two hits while rookie Danny Valencia had three singles in his first career multi-hit game.

The Twins maintain a three-and-a-half game lead over second-place Detroit in the AL-Central after the Tigers beat the White Sox 7-2. Chicago is now nine-and-a-half games back and just a game ahead of the Royals in the division.
