Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Jason Kubel drove in a run to tie the game in the seventh and Delmon Young followed with pinch-hit, go-ahead RBI single, as the Twins squeezed out a 2-1 victory over the Braves in the opener of a three-game interleague series.

The late rally off Tim Hudson made a winner of Francisco Liriano (6-3), who threw eight innings of one-run ball. The left-hander gave up just five hits and did not walk a batter while striking out 11, including a string of seven straight to tie a club record.

Jon Rauch fanned the side in the ninth to notch his 16th save of the year.

Hudson (6-2) took the tough loss, his first since April 21, after allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk in eight complete innings.

The 34-year-old Hudson was 5-0 in his previous nine starts and had pitched to a 2.66 earned-run average in eight road outings this season.

He continued that impressive stretch by allowing only two hits through seven innings, but Minnesota, trailing 1-0, loaded the bases with three straight hits to start the seventh -- two of the infield variety.

After Jim Thome struck out, Kubel and Young hit back-to-back singles to score Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau, respectively. Young's line drive to left came on an 0-2 count.
