ANAHEIM - The Milwaukee Brewers scored five runs in the third inning and five in the seventh last night to beat the Los Angeles Angels in 12-2.

The fans were jarred slightly by a 5.7 earthquake in the seventh inning, centered near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Ryan Braun hit his third career grand slam and drove in five runs. Corey Hart had a double and two singles and a pair of RBI’s. But it was Casey McGehee that had the wildest night. In the sixth, he homered to center on a ball that knicked Torii Hunter’s glove before it went over the fence. Then in the seventh, McGehee was hit by a pitch from the Angels’ Trevor Bell.

McGehee was forced out at second on a grounder by Carlos Gomez. And the throw caused Angels shortstop Erick Aybar to be hit by McGehee’s straight-on slide, hyper-extending his left knee. The Anaheim crowd of almost 40-thousand booed McGehee as he left the field – and then again in the ninth when he came to bat again. But Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia called it a clean slide, and McGehee said he wasn’t trying to hurt anyone.

Aybar is listed as day-to-day. Randy Wolf ended a two-game losing streak by giving up two runs and three hits in seven innings, and he retired the final 13 batters he faced. Wolf is now 5-6. Joe Saunders took the loss, giving up six runs in five-and-two-thirds innings. He ended a two-game winning streak, and is now 5-7. Kevin Frandsen drove in the Angels’ two runs with a bases-loaded double. LA’s loss was just the third in its last 13 games. The Brewers ended a two-game losing streak.

The Brewers and Angels will play again tonight. Right-hander Dave Bush faces Angels’ right-hander Ervin Santana.
