Vikings sign Edwards to one-year contract
Minnesota Sports- Minnesota Vikings restricted free agent defensive end Ray Edwards signed his one-year tender offer on Monday.
Eden Prairie, MN (Sports Network) - Minnesota Vikings restricted free agent defensive end Ray Edwards signed his one-year tender offer on Monday.
The 25-year-old will be entering his fifth NFL season after the Vikings selected him in the fourth round of the 2006 draft.
Edwards turned in a career year in 2009, finishing with a career-best 8 1/2 sacks to go along with 51 total tackles in starting all 16 games.
The 6-foot-5, 268-pounder had a stellar postseason last year as well, compiling four sacks, including three in the Vikings' victory over Dallas in the NFC Divisional playoffs.
In other team news, Minnesota waived undrafted rookie free agent center Eddie Adamski, offensive tackles Matt Hanson and Marlon Winn, running back James Johnson, wide receiver Aaron Rhea and cornerback Angelo Williams.
The Vikings also agreed to terms with linebacker Nate Triplett, who was taken in the fifth round of the 2010 draft.
