ANAHEIM - The Milwaukee Brewers lost at Anaheim 5-1 last night, as the Angels avoided being swept at home for the first time in three years.

The Angels never trailed, as Chris Narveson gave up two homers in the first two innings. Mike Napoli hit a solo shot in the first. And Bobby Wilson belted his first career homer, a three-run blast in the second. Joel Pineiro shut down the Brewer offense, just like he did when he was at Saint Louis. Pineiro went eight innings and gave up three hits, including a solo homer to Carlos Gomez in the third. He then retired 11 straight, before giving up a double to Corey Hart in the sixth. Casey McGehee singled for Milwaukee’s only other hit, and the Brewers were held hitless in the final three innings. Pineiro is now 4-0 lifetime against the Brewers. He won his third straight start, and his record improved to 6-6.

Narveson gave up five runs in four-and-a-third innings, and the loss dropped him to 5-4. He has lost three-of-his-last-four decisions. Prince Fielder was Milwaukee’s designated hitter, marking the first time since September of 2008 that he had not started at first base. The Brewers snapped a two-game winning streak, in which they had out-scored the Angels 19-to-3. Milwaukee is off today, and will play at Colorado tomorrow night.
