Bay Port, University School, Marathon and BCC all state baseball title winners

- Bay Port High School won its second straight Division-One state baseball championship last night. The Pirates defeated Madison La Follette 10-5 in the title game at Fox Cities Stadium near Appleton.

GRAND CHUTE - Bay Port High School won its second straight Division-One state baseball championship last night. The Pirates defeated Madison La Follette 10-5 in the title game at Fox Cities Stadium near Appleton.

Ben Messenger hit a grand slam in the third inning to give Bay Port an 8-1 lead at that point. La Follette scored four times in the final inning to reduce the margin. Griffin Lefeber had two hits and three RBI’s for Madison La Follette, which lost its first-ever title game and finished at 19-10.

Bay Port wrapped up its season at 25-7. The school, which is located in the Green Bay suburb of Howard, didn't have far to travel to celebrate another state title.

Also yesterday, the University School of Milwaukee won the Division-Two title in its first appearance at state, with an 8-3 victory over Altoona. Marathon won the Division-Three crown with a 15-7 rout of La Crosse Aquinas. And Burlington Catholic Central took home the Division-Four trophy with a 14-4, five-inning win over Chippewa Falls McDonell.
