Faulhaber looks back on 20 years of Kaitlin's Amish Goods
Anita Faulhaber feels the arts have imitated her life.
PRESCOTT--Anita Faulhaber feels the arts have imitated her life.
“After having just watched for the millionth time, ‘You've Got Mail’ with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, filmed in 1998, it somewhat reminded me of my current situation,” the proprietor of Kaitlin’s Amish Goods in Prescott said.
Meg Ryan owned The Little Shop Around The Corner, a small, quaint bookstore her mom opened and, when she died, Meg took over. Tom Hanks owned Fox Books, a big-box store she simply couldn’t compete with, and she ended up closing her store.
“As a little girl, Meg would go in to the book store with her mom,” Faulhaber said. “One scene shows her mom twirling Meg about as they danced. It touched my heart once again because it reminded me of me doing the same thing through the years with Kaitlin and the granddaughters.”
Anita’s story
It all started around 21 years ago when Faulhaber’s house on Monroe Street was in a tour of homes. In the backyard was a little play cottage for her daughter Kaitlin and Anita sold goods out of it during the tour.
