In the beginning of July, Isaac Weix of Elmwood, Republican candidate for the 93rd Assembly District, will fulfill his Marine Corps Reserve obligation for the summer.
For approximately three weeks, he will be part of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force 24 to be deployed to Peru. During this time, Weix’s unit will represent the United States in multi-nation counter terrorism training, as well as joint amphibious operations.
Weix is currently a Gunnery Sergeant and holds the position of Company 1st Sergeant. In his duties as a 1st Sergeant, he will be responsible for personnel accountability, and ensuring the morale and welfare of the Marines.
He will also conduct training for the Multi National Force (MNF). As a Marine Corps Marksmanship Instructor, he will join his Peruvian counterparts and teach basic pistol marksmanship.
Weix will depart during a critical time in the campaign cycle, when all paperwork is due to the state. Through discipline and hard work, he and his campaign staff were able to get all necessary signatures and paperwork completed early. All literature drops, mailings and fundraising will continue in his absence. His campaign staff will ensure a seamless transition during both his departure and return.
Weix is looking forward to this exciting mission and continuing to build his résumé of faithful service to the United States of America.
