To create a safer environment for visitors and workers at the 2010 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, Hwy. 29-35 will be detoured part of each day July 20-22, said Pierce County Highway Commissioner Chad Johnson.
The show is being held at the Peterson farm, near River Falls at the intersection of 29-35 and CTH E.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, traffic traveling east out of Prescott will be required to take CTH F north to CTH FF. Proceeding east on FF, traffic will rejoin Hwy. 29-35 outside of River Falls.
Travelers should use extra caution at the intersection of F and FF because there will be a three-way stop there for the entire week, said Johnson.
Traffic going west on Hwy. 29-35 out of River Falls will be directed on the same roads, FF and F. The detour will be marked using standard orange signing with black lettering.
In addition to the detour, major intersections throughout the area will be staffed with law enforcement to monitor and assist traffic.
People who regularly use CTH E for daily commuting will want to consider alternate routes during show hours, said Johnson. While E will remain open, several parking lot entrances and exits on that road will slow traffic there.
People who live on Hwy. 29-35 between CTH F and CTH E should have been contacted by the Pierce County Highway Department and issued visor passes that will allow them to proceed through state patrol barricades to get to their homes during the detour, said Johnson.
An exception to this will be that Hwy. 29-35 will be completely closed off between CTH E and the west end of the show grounds because of pedestrian and tram traffic crossing the roadway.
