Rookie pitcher shuts out Brewers

ST. LOUIS - Rookie Jaime Garcia shuts down the Milwaukee bats as St. Louis beats the Brewers 5-0.
Garcia stopped the Brewers on three hits over seven innings, dominating them with a sharp curveball. The Cardinal pitcher improved his record to 8-4 and lowered his ERA to 2.10. Matt Holliday doubled twice and drove in a run for the Cardinals, who stayed a game and a half behind Cincinnati in the National League Central Division race.
Milwaukee had won eight of its last 11 coming into the game. Corey Hart had two hits and threw out a runner at the plate. Chris Narveson took the loss. Garcia was so sharp in the victory there were no outfield flyball outs in his seven innings on the mound.
