Timberwolves trade for Michael Beasley

Minnesota Sports
- Signing of LeBron James results in trade sending Michael Beasley to Timberwolves.

MINNEAPOLIS - The fallout from LeBron James' decision to sign with the Miami Heat has landed the Timberwolves a forward.

The Heat freed up salary cap space by dealing Michael Beasley to the Wolves for a second-round pick in next year's NBA Draft. In addition to James, the Heat are getting ready to sign Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to lucrative contracts. Beasley was the second overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft out of Kansas State and averaged 14 points per game last season.

The Wolves needed some front court help after free agent forward David Lee went to Golden State from New York in a sign-and-trade deal. Lee was among the free agents the Wolves met with in the past week.
