Timberwolves complete Al Jefferson tradeMinnesota Sports
- Timberwolves finalize trade that sends Al Jefferson to Utah for two conditional first round draft picks.
The Timberwolves yesterday completed the trade of Al Jefferson to the Utah Jazz for two conditional first-round draft picks and a $13-million trade exemption.
The move frees up more salary cap space for the Timberwolves, and also relieved a logjam in the roster at the power forward position. Jefferson was one of five former Boston players the Wolves received for Kevin Garnett in 2007, and all five are now gone.
Garnett has helped the Celtics to the NBA Finals twice in his three seasons with the team, winning the championship once. Timberwolves basketball operations president David Kahn says it was the best deal they could get for Jefferson, adding that the forward should do well with the Jazz. The Wolves aren't finished reworking the roster, with negotiations continuing for free agent guard Luke Ridnour.
